About the song:

“Melanie Peterson (who, in August 2019, played the role of Susan Lopez in an episode of Amazon Prime’s new superhero series, The Boys) states, “Writing a Christmas song that actually becomes a classic seems impossible, but I keep trying. What inspired the song? To me, there is more than one side to Christmas. There’s the whimsical, childlike, magical side and then there is a melancholy, lonelier side. I was really drawn to and excited to write a sad Christmas song about someone who was facing Christmas with a broken heart. I strangely enjoyed tapping into the loneliness and sadness someone can feel when spending Christmas alone.”

“Christmas Breaks My Heart” was produced, engineered and mixed by legendary, multiple Juno Award and Polaris Prize-winning Canadian producer and musician Michael Wojewoda in Toronto (Rheostatics, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Jerry Cans, Amelia Curran, Barenaked Ladies’ and many more). Peterson wrote the song, sang lead vocals and played acoustic guitar on the song, and Wojewoda arranged the song, played drums, bass, keys, electric guitars and shared-in on backing vocals.”

I hope I’ll have the pleasure of seeing you at the show! Hunky Peter Collins, mighty Mitch Girio and I are super excited to share the live version of the song with you!  Please feel free to reach out if you need any more details 🙂

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie Peterson
