PS- more about the show itself and the artists below

Join us at The Dakota Tavern for a night of kickass female artists. The lineup features Charlotte Morris (Nashville, TN), Melodi Ryan (Peterborough, ON), and Toronto’s own, Melanie Peterson. Blending Americana, Folk, Jazz, and Soul, these 3 artists each bring their own flair to powerful voices and exceptional songwriting. This is an evening you won’t want to miss!

About the artists

CHARLOTTE MORRIS is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, whose autobiographical music weaves together a unique blend of Americana, Folk, Jazz, and more. Her soaring vocals and keen songwriting, often compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell, Liz Longley, Eva Cassidy, and Ira Wolf, create an intimate and vulnerable listening experience. When you see Charlotte live, it’s like having a deep conversation with an old friend – personal, authentic, and familiar – and almost always with a few laughs and a few tears.

MELODI RYAN‘s raw acoustic soul-rock showcases her passionate voice, crude lyrics, and striking melodies. The Ontario songwriter dives deep into both the glow and the burn of life and love. Both soulful and tongue-in-cheek, Melodi’s music is all about being true to yourself and embracing what you are. Her lyrics are honest and relatable, and her voice seduces listeners with its warmth and authenticity.

In 2019, Melodi released her debut album which helped establish her as a rising new voice in Canadian music. After a long hiatus during the pandemic, Melodi is set to release her second album in 2024, which promises to showcase her growth as an artist, and her continued dedication to connecting deeply with her audience.

“I want my music to inspire anyone looking for permission to give a big F-YOU to expectations and limitations in their lives. I’m going to continue to be the most badass, jackass, authentic version of myself and if I can inspire one person to love themselves enough to be unapologetically who they want to be, I’ve done my job.” -Melodi

MELANIE PETERSON is a Saskatoon born singer-songwriter based in Toronto. She is known for her folk-pop style and captivating vocals. Peterson has released several albums and EPs, including “Unbreakable” and “Anywhere From Here.” She’s performed at various venues and festivals across Canada, gaining recognition for her heartfelt lyrics and engaging performances.

Let’s Get Sauced!

Hey friends! First off, thanks so much to everyone who came out to my Hugh’s Room show last month. It was such a special night for me, and having a few familiar faces in the packed house made my tribute to Melanie Safka (my namesake, may she rest in peace) and performance of David Bowie’s “Golden Years” and “Fame” that much more special!
