No News is Good News!

Hi Friends,

I hope you’re doing great and enjoying the lovely warmer weather. I don’t have any music news for you this month, I’m still chipping away at the projects I mentioned in my last newsletter but below you’ll see a couple new photos from a shoot I did with the fabulous Jen Squires.

Oh! While I have you, later this month I will be acting in episode 302 of the TV series Chucky playing a jury foreperson who gets to sentence the fabulous Jennifer Tilly with 103 counts of murder in the first degree. This is a U.S. show so you know what that means for her character. (She kinda plays herself in the show, in a very interesting way)

Want to see behind the scene pictures from the set? Head on over to my Patreon page where I will be posting behind the scenes photos from my two days on set. I’d love for you to follow me there!

More music news next month but just a reminder I’ll be playing at Castro’s in the east end of Toronto on Sunday June 11th, so come take a walk on the beach then join the trio and I for an evening of live music! 7:30-9:30 pm. No cover but tips are welcome!

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie

Welcome To My World

Dear friends,

Well, I am almost moved out of 2202 Queen Street East and into our new place a little further east on Queen and even closer to the lake. Yay! On top of songwriting, preparing to record a cover EP with Mitch Girio and consistently walking my dear pup Audrey, it’s been a pretty hairy time (pun intended).

I’ll be writing, unpacking and prepping the covers for the new EP for the next little while but I do have a handful of fabulous shows later this summer with more shows to be announced soon.

June 11 – Castro’s (Toronto – east end)

June 29th – The Dakota Tavern (Toronto – west end)

June 30th – BluMartini (Kingston)

July 1st – Clifford Brewing Co. (Hamilton)

It would be a honour to see you at one of these shows and have the opportunity to play for you. And for those of you farther away I do plan to do at least one live stream this summer, so pls stay tuned.

Meantime, I hope you are all doing wonderfully well and I look forward to seeing you at a show or hearing from you online real soon.

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie Peterson

Hey gang,

We have another digital only cover EP on the way! Spring sees the Pete’s and I in the studio with Mitch Girio to record Read It On The Radio Two. Listen/buy Read It On The Radio, the original 6 songs cover EP HERE.

Read It On The Radio was a six week digital download campaign in which I released one new cover song every week from the week of April 28th, 2014 to the week of June 1st, 2014. It was recorded and witnessed by Mitch Girio at Slaughterhouse 754, with Lucky Pete Lambert on the suitcase (you read that right), Peter Collins on bass/piano, me on acoustic guitar/lead vocals and Mitch Girio on everything else. Watch/like to our version of “Everybody’s Talkin” written by Fred Neil and performed by Harry Nilsson for the movie “Midnight Cowboy.”

I’m looking forward to a few band shows close to home the weekend after next. Thursday, March 23rd, I’ll be at The Dakota Tavern (249 Ossington Ave) in Toronto, 10pm. I’ll have lucky Pete Lambert on drums and hunky Peter Collins on bass. $10 at the door gets you three bands as we’ll be follow by Gregory Childs & Heart Lung who will be followed by The Converts!

8:30pm on Friday in Smith Falls, check out our debut performance at Bowie’s. We’ll be doing two shows, one at 8:30pm and one at 11:30pm with lots of time to chat with you in between sets.

Sunday afternoon I’m back in Hamilton, this time at the Clifford Brewing Co. (1-398 Nash Rd N ) 4-6pm with the full band. I always have a great time playing in Hamilton. Hope to see some of you come out to this matinee show and get folked up with us in the afternoon!

Thanks so much for being a friend and a fan and don’t hesitate to reach out with any question about the upcoming shows.

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie

Live Shows Alert!

Hey all,

I’ll be playing a special trio show THIS Saturday Nov 12th at my favorite venue in Gravenhurst, Ontario: Sawdust City Brewing Co. located at 397 Muskoka Rd. N. We’ll perform We Got This and We Got This – Side Two from start to finish for our first set, and then play some older MP songs and a few covers to get you all singing along for the second set. There is no cost for this show, and they have realistically priced adult beverages and fabulous food. You don’t want to miss this show, if you can help it, 8pm-10pm

And for those of you who are Hamilton locals or nearby, the full band and I are playing a show on Wednesday November 16th at Mills Hardware. Our opening act will be the awesome Heather Valley from Hamilton, whose talent and charm are undeniable. We would absolutely love to see you there and wouldn’t it be amazing to make our debut in Hamilton and see a few familiar faces in the crowd?? I guarantee a night full of stories, songs, love, singing and so much more. Get your tickets HERE or use the QR code on the poster.

And, last but certainly not least, is anyone interested in joining me on PATREON? This is where I share early mixes of songs, photos, thoughts and videos with the people who really want me to keep making music.

Becoming my patron is the best way for you to help me, as an artist, create a sustainable income, enabling me to continue to do what I do best. Hope to see you there!

New Music Video watch TODAY!

Happy hump day!

Sometimes you leave, sometimes you get left and sometimes there’s only one way to deal with it. TEQUILA!

The music video for “One Tequila” from my new EP ‘We Got This – Side Two’ is out now and you can watch it HERE

It is my drinking to stop thinking song, a song to put on when going through a break up OR you just want to hear something fun. I hope it makes you smile and you watch right to the very end, past the credits, for my favourite part!

Thank you for listening, watching, commenting, subscribing and ESPECIALLY sharing. You don’t know how much it means to me to know you love something I’ve made enough to pass it on! It’s been a year since I’ve released a music video I was actually performing in, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to watch. Also, I’d love to hear what you think of my co-star. Leave a comment if you think she has potential!

Big thanks to Castro’s Lounge for letting director Sean Ryan and I in early one Tuesday in September to shoot to our hearts content.

Hope to see you at a show real soon.

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie

Your September Update From Melanie Peterson
