The Painted Lady and Recording News!

I am happy to announce that I have been back in the studio, recording a new, two song, summer EP with producer Mitch Girio, and it won’t be long before you can hear it! The big news is we worked with strings, but not just violin like we did on the song Unbreakable, this time we brought in a cello, viola and violin player. We also worked with a new drummer: Mark Mariash, at a new studio: Union Sound Company. The songs are called “Been So Long” and “Kiss Me Like You Mean It”  and both are about love in it’s various summery incarnations.Mark MariashMark Mariash on drums. He’s played with Ron Sexsmith, Sarah Slean and Jeff Healey.  Among others.

Big thanks to The Painted Lady for inviting me back for a show THIS Saturday June 3rd! RSVP HERE, so we know to expect you!   I’m excited to return as a trio, with Jesse Tomas from Nova Scotia opening the show at 8pm. Come and have and adult beverage and hang with us: 8pm-10pm.

That’s all for now, hugs and mushy stuff and enjoy the summer. Remember: You gotta slow down to catch up.

Save the date – Saturday April 29th!

Sauce On DanforthHello friends!

Just wanted to let you know that on Saturday April 29th, Peter, Mitch and I are once again playing at one of the hippest little venues in the east end of Toronto,  Sauce on The Danforth , 1376 Danforth Avenue.  We are going to start folking things up at 4pm (it’s a matinee) and we wont stop until they kick us out at 7pm.  So start your afternoon right with a draft beer or even a fancy cocktail. It’s cocktail hour until 6pm!

For those who can’t make this show, we are also playing at Castro’s Lounge , 2116 Queen East, on Saturday May 27th. Same idea, just two sets instead of three and we start at 9pm. Can’t wait to see you!

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie Peterson

PS- we will busting out lots of new songs for you at these shows 🙂

Via Rail and Guinness Book of World Records!

_Melanie Peterson_

I’m back! Earlier this month I jumped on Via Rail and headed to the East Coast! I played my songs on the train, made many new friends and fans, stayed a couple days in St. John where I wrote a new song, then came back completely sold out of CD’s. Quite a successful and fun adventure.  17240662_10158342073055335_8396787109977443964_o

My semi-acoustic single “Sunshine” has been getting much radio play on the BBC and spins from a show called Folkal Point in Glasgow, not to mention many spins  on local Canadian folk-radio stations. Glad to be getting Sunshine out there!

Tues March 28th! I am excited to be playing with Martin Obern on bass as part of the Epidemic Music Group’s 16 day 24 hour a day official attempt at The Guinness Book of World Records for the longest concert ever. I’ll be helping out by performing a 55 minute concert on Tuesday March 28th at 10pm at The Earl of Whitechurch Pub in Stouffville. Hope you can come check us out.  Only $5.00 at the door and all proceeds go to charity.

I’ve been writing up a storm and have more than enough material now for a new album.  Will be demoing a few of the songs this month and sitting down with producer Mitch Girio to come up with a plan for the new album. Before that comes though, I have an side project I did with Plume Moth Orchestra to share with you and also some remixes of tunes from Unbreakable and Anywhere From Here to pass on to you.

Thanks for being a friend and a fan!

Hugs a mushy stuff,

Melanie Peterson
