That is why I have been performing live, via Facebook, every Sunday night  in June. My last show in this series- “A Month of Sundays”- will be THIS Sunday June 28th at 7pm EST and I’d love it so much if you would tune in and say hi ! I’ll be playing cover songs, originals, old stuff, new stuff and songs you have recently requested with hunky Peter Collins accompanying me on bass and backing vocals. Good times will be had!

Click HERE at 7pm EST to tune in. (You don’t even have to log in to Facebook to watch) All are welcome! And for anyone who would like to contribute, I will have a virtual tip jar HERE

This month I am celebrating the 6 year anniversary of my cover EP “Read It On The Radio”! If you don’t have a digital copy, Bandcamp is a great place to pick one up. Downloads are high-quality files and you will own them forever. Just click HERE

I will be playing one of the tracks from “Read It on The Radio” LIVE on Sunday night,  but you’ll have to tune in to find out which one!

There is always something positive to come out of difficult situations, and I find I am thankful that you are part of my life and I am part of yours. Sometimes you have to slow down in order to realize just how lucky you are.

Fun Facebook Live Stream Tonight!

PHOTO OF THE MONTH –  BY HAYLEY ANDOFF

Hey friends!

If you missed my live concert on Facebook last weekend, no worries, you can watch me play live TONIGHT, at 7:30pm! You can watch the show by clicking HERE (and no, you don’t need to have a Facebook account to watch, yay!)

Hunky Peter Collins and I will be joining forces to bring our music to you, every Saturday night in April, in the hope of helping you take your mind off your troubles for a little while.

I look forward to reading and responding to your comments between songs.

Some people like to comment, others prefer to simply watch. I always appreciate your attendance, all the same.

This week I’d love to hear about how the COVID-19 situation is treating you.

We have all been touched by the pandemic. Some are feeling more thrown than others. A lot of people are feeling the social isolation. That’s where music comes in. I’m loving the sense of community that is building around our Saturday night live stream. I love putting my face on and dressing up for you all, while you get to watch the show in your track pants with a glass of wine/beer, if you feel so inclined.

So if you’d like a little musical distraction, this evening, and every Saturday night in April, please join us. You know we’d love to have you.

Hugs and mush stuff,

Melanie

PS- here is a link to my Spotify music page, in case you want to listen to a few of my tunes in advance, and get ready to sing along!

PPS- happy to announce my song “Christmas Breaks My Heart” was the only Canadian finalist in the Adult Contemporary category of the Great American Song Contest! YAY!

Storms Don’t Last Forever

PHOTO OF THE MONTH by ANJLI CHAUJAR

Dear friends,

I know these are scary times. But as an artist who has been turning to her writing, instead of the media, I am optimistic that the world will sort itself out and find solutions soon, and in the meantime I believe we are all growing closer emotionally, if not literally, as we go through this pandemic together.

I am writing today with the hope that by Saturday, April 4th, the necessity for social distancing will be on it’s way out and you will be as eager as I am for an afternoon of live music! If that turns out to be the case (fingers AND toes crossed) here are the details:

WHEN: SATURDAY, APRIL 4TH 4-7PM (A MATINEE!)

WHERE: SAUCE ON THE DANFORTH (1376 DANFORTH AVENUE)

HOW MUCH: NO COVER, BUT TIP JAR PROVIDED (LARGE TIPS ENCOURAGED WINK WINK)

WHAT: THREE SETS OF ORIGINAL MUSIC WITH A FEW COVERS THROWN IN FOR GOOD MEASURE

WHY: BECAUSE WE LOVE LIVE MUSIC!

And remember- we will get through this crisis, as humanity has always done in the past. Storms don’t last forever. In the meantime, please take care of yourself, and others. And I hope we get to see each other on Saturday, April 4th!

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie xo

Happy New Year! I hope the new year and decade has begun beautifully for you. My goal this year is to consistently remember that I must do everything I do for the good of others. Sounds simple. But I sometimes forget. How about you?

What is ahead for me in 2020 so far? I’ll be playing my first festival of the year, Winterfolk Festival, at the end of February (yay!) and I’ll be releasing my new EP in May! My first show of 2020 is a full band show (!!) this Saturday, Jan 25th at the legendary Dakota Tavern 7-9pm with special guest Paul Cafcae doing an opening set at 7pm. Really hope you can make this one, I’ll be playing some of my new album tunes with the band so you can get an idea of how they will sound fully realized. For more details and to RSVP click HERE

Thanks so much for your love and support! Until we meet again!

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie Peterson “Christmas Breaks My Heart” single release party Friday Nov 29, 2019

Come celebrate with me and special musical guests Angela Saini and Matt Gerber at The Free Times Cafe in Toronto!

Friday, November 29th, 2019 I will be releasing my original holiday single “Christmas Breaks My Heart” on all digital platforms!

Doors open at 7:30pm

Tickets: $10 at the door

RSVP and more details HERE

About the song:

“Melanie Peterson (who, in August 2019, played the role of Susan Lopez in an episode of Amazon Prime’s new superhero series, The Boys) states, “Writing a Christmas song that actually becomes a classic seems impossible, but I keep trying. What inspired the song? To me, there is more than one side to Christmas. There’s the whimsical, childlike, magical side and then there is a melancholy, lonelier side. I was really drawn to and excited to write a sad Christmas song about someone who was facing Christmas with a broken heart. I strangely enjoyed tapping into the loneliness and sadness someone can feel when spending Christmas alone.”

“Christmas Breaks My Heart” was produced, engineered and mixed by legendary, multiple Juno Award and Polaris Prize-winning Canadian producer and musician Michael Wojewoda in Toronto (Rheostatics, Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Jerry Cans, Amelia Curran, Barenaked Ladies’ and many more). Peterson wrote the song, sang lead vocals and played acoustic guitar on the song, and Wojewoda arranged the song, played drums, bass, keys, electric guitars and shared-in on backing vocals.”

I hope I’ll have the pleasure of seeing you at the show! Hunky Peter Collins, mighty Mitch Girio and I are super excited to share the live version of the song with you!  Please feel free to reach out if you need any more details 🙂

Hugs and mushy stuff,

Melanie Peterson

Upcoming Shows and New Lyric Video (for your eyes only)

I hope October was fantabulous for you! Temperatures are dropping, but the beautiful colors that surround us this time of year make the extra layer of clothing doable!

As a  member of my mailing list (membership must have it’s privileges!) I wanted you to be the first to see the official lyric video for my new holiday single “Christmas Breaks My Heart”. The video was created by a UK animator and the song itself was written by moi and produce by Juno award winning producer Michael Wojewoda (previously of the Rheostatics). You can watch the video here: PRIVATE LINK

To me, there has always been more than one side to Christmas. There’s the whimsical, childlike, magical side and thethere is a melancholy, lonelier side. I strangely enjoy tapping into the loneliness and sadness someone can feel when spending Christmas alone.

I’m looking forward to playing the Cross Currents Cafe in Bolton this Friday night and then there is my holiday single release party at the Free Times Cafe on Fri Nov 29th! I hope you will save the date. I’ve got Matt Gerber and Angela Saini playing opening sets, so it will be an entertaining night of live music, a few holiday songs and a celebration of the release of “Christmas Breaks My Heart” which will be available on all digital platforms that very same day. Can’t wait.
